This series is one of my personal favorites, what with the the monsters, the mad magicians, and the William Castle gimmicks they used to pack 'em in and fleece the audience! Spook Show Series 2 is finally live on Kickstarter-- Covid, Chaos, or whatever other challenge be damned.

There were some real characters in this (the final) series. If you like Halloween, monsters, or vintage topics, you should check it out. There's some great swag and it starts at just $4!

A big THANK YOU for the fast and furious reaction to this Kickstarter. We passed our funding goals in than 32 minutes (despite being after midnight)!

Although these cards are not technically "vintage", the subject matter certainly is. Spook Shows were an amazing part of movie history, and many of the Ghostmaster's stories are priceless. Some were real gentlemen, while others were drunks, crooks, and thieves... I even discovered one that was a transvestite (long before it was fashionable)! They all had one thing in common though: They were 100% showmen, and really knew how to rustle an audience. The gimmicks they used to fill theaters were worthy of P.T. Barnum and the inspiration for William Castle. The "free dead body" for a member of the audience was a classic. They had a contest where the winner was blind folded and taken to the stage (she was always a girl). She listened as the Ghostmaster described the four ushers bringing the casket up the steps, then opening it. She was instructed to place her hand on the cold, pimply skin of the "deceased". A scream usually followed as the audience roared in laughter. Tearing off her mask, she discovered the dead body was that of a frozen turkey or chicken! (Gotta love it!)

Not to be outdone, Spook Show 2 offers something bigger, better, and even more braggadocios! (The drum roll please...)

This was just added to the free Zombie gimmick:
"Indecency laws forbid us from advertising ALL the things you can have your Zombie Slave do... but WOW!"

I'm happy to report we passed our 100th pledge. (Canned applause.) I also got to answer a Frequently Asked Question-- which I included here for your enjoyment...

Q: Your "Master set" promises a Zombie slave, yet the postage does not jump significantly to pay to ship such a creature. Do we really get a Zombie slave or is this just a card?

A: You get an actual three-dimensional Zombie slave (not just a card). Not only that, it will be as active as you want it to be. (It will not rest unless you let it.) You are clever to notice the postage did not increase-- but that's due more to your suspicious nature than to empirical logic. We have a long history of saving our customers money by charging only the actual postage (if not, LESS) than what we pay to mail things. Moreover, we never said your Zombie would be sent via the mail. (There are postal regulations against mailing dead things-- although technically, he isn't quite dead.) Did it ever occur to you that we might command him to show up at your door at night? (They don't like traveling in sunlight... its makes their rotting exterior look even worse.) But you bring up a good point: We should make other arrangements in the survey for those who use Post Office Boxes. (Overseas patrons need not worry. Zombies can walk underwater with weight belts.)

We're down to the last five days, but thanks to all who have helped out. (We're closing in on the 3rd & final stretch goal for bonus card #3.)
