Afternoon,

I know there are Checklists for the Baseball ones and that PSA grades them. Anybody have a checklist for the Movie Star side of this! And why does PSA Grade the Baseball but not the Movie Stars?

Thanks

Neil

The cynical side of me says "because Joe Orlando collects baseball cards," but the judgmental side of me says "because PSA doesn't understand vintage non-sports; they just don't get them."

Admittedly, I’m an SGC guy (I despise PSA), but what’s not to get? Grading a card is grading a card.

You would think so Jim, but this thread is an example of what I'm talking about. How could they know what the Star-Cal baseball cards are and grade them but claim to not know what the Star-Cal movie star cards are and therefore refuse to grade them? In each of my last three submissions I have had cards returned to me with the no-grade tag along with a "not enough known" explanation. I believe that in my last submission it was a couple of R195 Shelby Quiz Cards. This is not a bizarre issue or even an obscure issue. They are in databases, reference books, and any R collector above novice level knows what they are. I think that with respect to non-sports the experts don't work at PSA (we are the experts), but they will not contact the experts when there are questions about the cards that we collect. They are complacent about vintage non-sports in my eyes; their actions indicate that they don't get them and don't want to. So can they grade a card? Sure, they can probably grade anything they want to, but unless it's sports they may or may not grade what you send to them.
